John,

Madness has overtake you. Ron Paul can't even ride a horse.

I never thought I'd see the day when good, decent, sane Conservatives like John Killian could support an anarchist, cut and run conspiratorial nut like Ron Paul.

What has happened to our party?

I think too many anonymous people joined it.

In the latest, "Are you kidding me???" category...

Check this out from politico,com:

(Excerpt)
"Wednesday afternoon, Huckabee described to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer how the interview with Chafets had gone. “Actually, if you’ll talk to the reporter, because he was shocked that that was characterized out of an 8,100-word story, as we were, we thought, good heavens. We were having a conversation. It was over several hours, and the conversation was about religion, and he was trying to press me on my thoughts of Mitt Romney’s religion.

“And I said I don’t want to go there. I don’t know that much about it. I barely know enough about being a Baptist. And I really didn’t know,” the GOP presidential candidate continued.

Questions for Passing the Huck:

1. You "barely know enough about being a Baptist" after pastoring 2 churches and being involved with the SBC???

2. You REALLY don't know the distinctions about Mormonism vs. legitimate Christian faith?

3. Why are you feigning ignorance and backtracking on this issue?

4. Why should we people of faith in the Republican Primary place any trust in you as a candidate for the highest office in the land when you can't even tell the truth about your knowledge in the area of your professional expertise???

John-

I just caught the Stossel interview with Ron Paul...

Again, how did you arrive at supporting so vociferously a nut who is for gay marriage, open drug use (including heroin and cocaine) and has no qualms about legalizing prostitution?

Do you really have no reservations about the consequences of this guy's issue positions?

Stunning.

Do you really have no reservations about the consequences of freedom?

Wayne,

Just trying to clarify...are you saying that someone who is for prostitution, gay marriage and unbridled hard drug use is a defender of freedom worthy of admiration and support?

There is a difference between Liberty and License, you know. Or, maybe you don't.

I agree with the two anonymous (or maybe the same) posters. No responsible lover of Liberty (nor any pastor of God's Holy Word) can justify to me those kind of social policies. For a man of God, or for any decent individual, to passionately advocate the candidacy of someone who does stand for those issues seems highly incongruous.

We're not talking about deviations with tax policy or the legitimacy of the UN, we're talking Core Values of morality here.

If I was a man of the cloth, I could NOT in good conscience speak in favor of-- or try to win votes for--- someone whose philosophical core values are so dramatically different from the teachings of the Bible.

Speaking of "nuts" where are these nuts coming from on your blog, Brother John? No where has Dr Ron Paul advocated these deplorable social ills! The man has simply stood his ground on his Oath of office to God to uphold the Constitution! Obviously the posters are the "nuts" and have never read the Constitution or if they have, they do not understand it!

The Constitution for [please note, it is "for" not of --big difference!]the United States of America is a document that the sovereign several states LIMITED the federal government. No where in that document does it state authority to the federal government to oversee social issues! These are left to the several states! It is called Statas Rights, the 9th and 10th Amendments, of which states the authority not in the Constitution is retained to the States or to the people, but thanks to Lincoln, have all been but destroyed! Ron Paul is the opportunity for us to regain those rights, as well as many other God given rights that have been stripped from us by the Bush regime and past power hungry leaders!

Have they read what God has to say about taking an Oath? Ron Paul has kept covenant in keeping his Oath to "support this Constitution" as a Congressman!

Have they bothered to go to Ron Paul's website and read his statement of faith? His writings on the issues?

And just who would these "nuts" vote for? Mike "Huckster" Huckabee, maybe? The man who has violated his Oath of office to God? The man who is responsible for the Mexican consulate in Little Rock? The man who "plays on words" in his answer about evolution and creation? The man who kept all of Clinton's people when he came into office? The man who supports high taxes and enlarge federal control of the education [sic]? The man who has 14 ethic complaints against him with 5 reprimands?

Please, spare us of their [the "nuts"] ignorance.... and Huckster, as well as the other elitist status quo globalists!

RP believes in localized government. He gives his personal opinion on issues but then qulaifies those with the statement that it is not a federal issue, and mansy of these social issues are not federal issues. Fed power is supposed to be very limited.

aquinas said...

Wayne-

Exactly my point. He does give his opinion on these issues, and he takes a civil-Libertarian view, not a conservative Republican view.

A conservative believes in a moral order. He believes that laws should reflect that moral order.

John Killian is not a civil Libertarian, I don't think. I've not met any Baptist preachers who could support a guy for President of the United States who says, "I think its okay to legalize prostitution, hard narcotic drugs, and gay marriage."

The ones I know have moral and religious convictions against such policies and would never vote in good conscience for someone who advocates all that.

Its not good for man, its not good for society, its not good for the nation.

What if Ron Paul did get elected and somehow got these issues allowed state by state as he wishes(though there is NO way he could accomplish what he advocates, thus making the rationale for his candidacy moot)?

Would Brother Killian be a proud defender of President Paul's domestic policy which brought legalized drugs into Alabama?

Watch the John Stossel interview again. This guy is a RINO and is an affront to decency.

If you'll read "The Conscience of a COnservative" and pick one GOPer who has that mindset, it is only Ron Paul.

Who would you suggest? Rudy, Romney?

wayne said...

Much of the reason I like Paul is the outright fear and paranoia he creates in Rush, Hannity and Mark Levin. You mention Paul's name and these self-proclaimed freedom lovers cut you off and refuse access to anyone wishing to discuss Paul's (or Rupaul as they childishly call him) ideas.

That burns me up.

Aquinas said...

Well, I'm not going to give you any points for political IQ if "much" of the reason you like him is because he irritates other Republicans. That's an absolutely fatuous reason for supporting somebody.

I have read, "Conscience of a Conservative." Many times. Along with other conservative tracts and tomes. I encourage you to read "The Conservative Mind" and "The Politics of Prudence" by Russell Kirk, if you haven't already.

Rudy, Romney as Goldwater/Reagan Conservatives? Please!

The only two who come close as far as I can see are Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson.

Ron Paul is certifiable. Anybody who can count to 2 knows something doesn't quite add up about him. Ridding us of the CIA? The FBI? Seriously now.

If he ain't bat-dung crazy then I think he's been smoking too much of whatever he wants to legalize. And talk about paranoia...
