Introducing Tim James

This past Saturday morning, I called off my personal moratorium on attending Republican meetings to go hear Tim James at the June meeting of the Mid Alabama Republican Club. A large audience heard this candidate for Governor speak forthrightly and winsomely about the possibilities for Alabama.
I will not attempt to recap the speech, but suffice it to say, this writer was extremely impressed with the presentation of Tim James. Tim James speaks with the passion and common sense of a George Wallace, the reverence for the Constitution of a Fob James, an aggressiveness of a Bob Riley, the sincerity of a Guy Hunt, the ...well, I don't see any resemblance to Don Siegelman.
1) Tim James is a die-hard believer in the US Constitution and the principles of our founders. When asked about his support for the Sovereignty Resolution (a movement in state legislatures to re-assert state sovereignty), Tim James replied that he would support this motion as a move to draw attendion to the issue of states' rights. Tim went on to say but we already have a State Sovereignty Resolution, it's called the US Constitution.
2) Tim James understands the need to rein in state spending and live within our means. Tim James really understands the intended limits of government.
3) Tim James is a man of moral convictions. A believing Christian and active member of a Presbyterian (PCA) Church in Greenville, Tim is pro-life and opposes gambling for our state. Tim James would stand on moral principles in his decisions as Governor.
4) Tim James is practically minded. As a successful businessman, Tim James is honestly looking for practical solutions to the problems that face our state. Frankly, Tim James is sensible about the solutions to reading and the need for a sensible approach in public education. A philosopher might scoff, but Tim James is a get-something-done man.
5) Tim James has a happy, winsome manner. Unlike most of us conservatives, Tim James does not come off as angry and persecuted. Tim James reminds me of Ronald Reagan in promoting a postive approach and insisting that we can produce our way out of our problems.
6) Tim James is a good speaker and has a strong and pleasant personal presence. His speeches make sense and he is a solution-minded thinker.
This writer has struggled with a defeatist attitude, but the Tea Party movement has given me hope. The candidacy of a Constitutionalist like Tim James is further evidence that we are still a great country with postive hope.
Yes, the photo above is an overweight editor of Musings from Maytown with the next Governor, Tim James. Tim James was an Auburn running back under Coach Pat Dye and was enjoying a light-hearted moment over my Crimson Tide shirt.

Brother John:

This is "An Alabama Independent" commenting, and wanted to make that clear first, as for some reason, my last post came out as "anonymous" and I am hardly "anonymous!"

Tim James - if elected Governor - might make a good governor, I have not doubt. But he will not be the aggressive moral crusader that Roy Moore will be (and could have been if he had listed to seasoned political observers).

Tim James, I am afraid, is "mouthing' things that Christians "conservatives" like you and me like to hear and he knows we must hear to be persuaded to support him.

I've been burned by these types too often and too long. I won't go that route again.

You are my brother in Christ and I hope my friend, but we may have to be on opposite sides of the campaign with this race. I'm for Roy Moore and will do all I can to help him.

Roy Moore will be the loudest national voice we've had in the governor's office since George Wallace. He will be in the position to force the national GOP to either "put up or shut up" when it comes to the real issues, i.e. Abortion, Traditional Family, Illegal Immigration, and support for Israel. Tim James will be nothing but lip service.

ROY MOORE for Governor
ROY MOORE for Alabama Values.

How do you know that Roy Moore is not doing the same thing you accuse Tim James of doing? How do you know that Roy Moore is not simply using the Ten Commandments issue to manipulate people and win votes? It would not be the first time a political candidate has used organized religion as a tool to simply win votes. I would rather side with a successful businessman than someone who seems like an angry religious zealot. He has theocracy written all over him.

It is noted Jere Beasley has joined Artur Davis camp as a fundraiser.
Warren St. John should explore this Gov Race with Nick Saban if Alabama's soul is to be explored.
Let's see what John Hannah and Leroy Jordan and Mal Moore are thinking
Bring Condi Rice, and Vandy's Carol Swain--two black women--to the state this fall to discuss with Natalie Davis and Pam Huff and Rick Lance and Bob Terry and Gary Fenton what is at stake for Alabama in this governor's race and how it should be run.
Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide starters, and the Auburn and Alabama Money athletic clubs should be part of this discussion.
The former Bama 3rd congressman, before Bob Riley, now teaching at JSU, Glenn Browder, is writing about racial politics in Alabama.
Let's come to the table and talk about that, before special interests and the RicknBubba show and Lee Davis and Crawford Broadcasting demagogue this contest while Joe Godfrey and Rick Lance and Bob Terry take a pass on the larger issues facing the state.
UAB's Glenn Feldman has written his Jeremiad in Religion and Politics in the White South.
Let's explore that this fall with Rick Lance and Bob Terry and then have a substantive discussion next fall.
Rick And Bubba nor Lee Davis and Crawford broadcasting should decide this election

I have been hearing what Tim James has had to say about what he would do as Governor for several months now. I am more than a little impressed with how sharp his mind is for business and finance issues. Also, the man is clearly a social and ethical conservative as well as a smart-minded fiscal conservative.

Every time I have heard a Roy Moore interview he fumbles over anything beyond his declaration of his faith. When it comes to discussing anything beyond the Bible or himself he seems utterly clueless. Moore is so blatantly exploiting Christian values for personal gain that as a devoted Christian myself I am offended that he would manipulate people in such a way for but ego and personal gain.

The difference between Moore and James is that James is not using his Christian faith and values as the sole reason people should vote for him, he actually has a vision for what he wants to do as Governor.

VOTE TIM JAMES!
