Why do readers take time to sort through internet news and to watch network news, to the exclusion of the print media? Consider that one can find a variety of writers on the world wide web. Even broadcast media has somewhat of a balance. Fox News serves to balance the big three networks, but even CNN and MSNBC know that they must include some conservative spokesmen to garner viewers.
But only five readers selected newspapers and no one selected news magazines. Daily newspapers are going out of business on a monthly basis. One need look no farther than the Birmingham News to find a terrible bias accompanied by a malicious approach toward those who express opinions from the status quo. Letters to the Editor are often sorted to preclude too many opposing perspectives.
These United States have been well-served by print media, but this writers believes that we are observing the demise of the daily newspaper as a source of news for middle America.
